Singapore, our city.
A multi-racial country.
Famous for its clean and green community,
Where everyone works together
And lives in harmony.

Home to 4 different races,
Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian
Different language and religion
Different customs and traditions
But all live in one nation

The festivals we celebrate,
Bring us all together as one
From the sound of firecrackers on Chinese New Year
To the lighting of candle on Deepavali
And from the gathering of Malay families on Hari Raya
To the singing of carols on Christmas day

The joyous sounds of people can be heard
As Singaporeans of different races
Come together as one
In the celebration of our country’s culture
And our heritage.

So many different kinds of food,
Which everything tastes so good.
A one-rice Malay dish called the nasi lemak,
With its soft, fluffy and fragrant rice,
Fried crunchy anchovies and cucumber slice.
Singapore’s favourite seafood, the chilli crab,
Slightly spicy, very juicy,
One of a kind delicacy.

Roll, punch, flip, fold,
And fried into the colour of brown-gold.
At last, the famous Indian roti prata is ready to be sold
Sheperd’s pie, a food that is unique.
Which uses any kind of leftover meat,
With soft and rich mashed potato crust on top of it.

With diverse heritage and culture
Singapore is a place unlike any other.
A place that everybody wants to be in
To be a part of Singapore.

A part of its 192-year heritage
A part of its 5 million strong citizens today
Is a joy we must cherish
And to be patriotic to call it
Our home.

Hong Kah Lites in their ethnic best to show off to the students of Hong Kong.
